[185] Mauritius, a small tropical island located in the Indian Ocean, is 60 km long and 40 km wide with a coastline of 180 km. The sea, sun and sand are the main attractions of Mauritius. Almost the whole of its coastline is protected by coral reefs which makes for a calm and safe lagoon with white sandy beaches suitable to practise a variety of water-sports namely ; water-skiing, parasailing, sailing, surfing, kite surfing, kayak trips, catamaran cruises, deepsea fishing, undersea walk and scuba-diving. Some of the prominent beaches in Mauritius are located at ; Trou Aux Biches, Mont Choisy, Grand Baie, Péreybčre, Belle Mare, Palmar, Blue Bay, Flic en Flac, and Le Morne.

Trou Aux Biches beach [089] Trou Aux Biches beach is located at some 14 km north of Port Louis. Trou Aux Biches beach has a long stretch of white and sandy beach with a shallow and calm lagoon.
Mont Choisy [090] Mont Choisy beach is some 3 km north of Trou Aux Biches. Mont Choisy also has a long stretch of white and sandy beach.
Péreybčre beach [091] Péreybčre is a small beach located near Grand Baie.
Bain Boeuf [093] Bain Boeuf does not have sandy beaches as the other northern beaches and it is a less crowded beach with Gunner`s Quoin island dominating the horizon.
Palmar beach [094] Palmar beach is situated on the eastern coast of Mauritius. From Palmar, île aux cerfs is very near. Many private tour operators along the eastern coastline offer a ride by boat to ile aux cerfs.
Le Souffleur [092] Le Souffleur, located in the south, is a contrast to the sandy beaches in Mauritius. At le Souffleur there is a continuous breeze of the South East Trade Wind. The beauty here is to watch these powerful waves crash against high cliffs of solidified lava. If you intend to use your camera here, a word of caution is to protect your expensive gear against droplets of salted water present in the atmosphere along the coastline of Le Souffleur. I would advise you to bring a piece of moistened wool or cloth to wipe your equipments from the droplets of salted water from time to time, especially the front of your lens, as it will reduce contrast in your images.
Flic en Flac beach [239] Flic en Flac is situated on the western coast of Mauritius. Flic en Flac has large area of sandy beaches and it is one of the region that has the most sunshine in Mauritius.
Le Morne beach [269] Apart from other water-sports, Le morne is famed for kite surfing in Mauritus as there are steady southeastern winds suitable for even beginners.
